what this place is
cape arcade is an arcade floor for games that live on the blockchain. every cabinet is a real game served from a canister on the internet computer. playing is free, works in your browser, and needs no install and no account.
how to play
- walk the floor. every lit cabinet is a real game.
- press ▶ INSERT COIN — PLAY. the game opens in a new tab and the play counter ticks up by one.
- that's it. no sign-in needed to play. quarters are free here.
what signing in gets you
the INSERT COIN · SIGN IN button uses internet identity (id.ai) — a passkey, not a password. no email, no username, nothing to leak. each site you use it on sees a different anonymous identity.
- sign the guestbook
- submit your own game to the floor
- track your submissions on MY SUBMISSIONS
- in games that support it, sign in with the same passkey inside the game and your progress is saved to your identity — any device, any browser, same save.
note: playing never requires sign-in. saving depends on the game — cabinets that save are marked on the floor.
for game makers
build a game that runs on the internet computer,
put it in a canister,
bring us the url via GET IN THE ARCADE. the management reviews everything by hand. if it runs, it hangs.
f.a.q.
- is it free?
- yes. the quarters are decorative.
- do you take a cut from the games?
- no. your canister, your quarters.
- why does everything look like 1997?
- because 1997 was the last honest year of the internet. also we like it.
- what is a canister?
- a small program that lives on the internet computer blockchain and serves this game (or this very page) without any server behind it.
- who runs this?
- the management. 1933cape studio. we read the guestbook.
